About the Vortex

The Vortex Theatre is a venue for classic, contemporary and cutting edge theatre. Our audiences can enjoy wonderful works for the stage. From local and national premieres to new interpretations of classic works, the Vortex continues to be one of Albuquerque's finest theatres. The Vortex web site is here to help you become a part of the Vortex Theatre. This is where you can find what shows are playing or coming up and what you can do to get involved. From volunteering time and money to participating both backstage and at the front of house. The VORTEX is a 501(c)3 (non-profit) organization.

Map & directions

The Vortex is conveniently located across from the UNM campus, on the south side of Central Avenue. Our box office door opens onto Buena Vista Drive, 3 blocks east of University Blvd. Parking is on the street. The University & Nob Hill districts are only a pleasant stroll away and offer shopping and many choices of restaurants to round out your evening at the theatre.

The Vortex Board & Staff

The Vortex Board oversees all aspects of theatre management, from soliciting for and selecting season shows, to theatre maintenance, to publicity and promotion, to keeping the bills paid, and to producing great theatre along with our directors, actors, and production team. Whether you're a director, playwright, old stagehand, or a new enthusiast, get to know the theatre board members. They make theatre happen.
