Reservations Policy

Making reservations

Walk-up sales are welcome, but you can reserve seats in advance by purchasing admissions online.

In order to allow time for processing, same-day reservations must be placed prior to the reservation cutoff time. The reservation cutoff time is 3 hrs prior to curtain, or 3pm, whichever is earlier.
All reservations are for general admission. Arrive early for the largest selection of seats.
Seats must be claimed by 10 minutes before curtain. The Vortex reserves the right to re-sell unclaimed seats. Patrons who do not claim their seats will be offered an exchange.
Late seating is not permitted. In order to avoid disruptions to the performance, patrons arriving after a performance has started will not be seated, regardless of payment status.
Tickets are claimed by name. A printed receipt or ticket is not required.
Payments are secure. The financial transaction is made entirely on the PayPal site, but a PayPal account is not required and we add NO service fees.
Any discounts claimed online must be verified at the theatre by showing the appropriate coupon or membership card.

Online purchases are non-refundable, however we have a generous exchange policy. We will exchange your ticket for any other performance of the same show, if you request that change 25 hours before the ticketed performance. For example, you must call or email requesting the exchange by Thursday evening at 6:30 for a Friday 7:30 show. You may make this request by leaving a message on the Vortex answering machine or by completing the exchange request form on our website. See further details in the 'Exchange of Paid Reservations' section below.

Exchange of Paid Reservations

Online ticket sales are non-refundable but may be exchanged for an equal number of seats to a comparably-priced, regular Vortex performance under the following conditions:

The exchange must be for a different performance of the same production.
The exchange must be requested 25 hours prior to curtain time of the ticketed performance.
Reservations must be available for the desired performance. Performances that are sold out, canceled, or which are not yet accepting reservations may not be selected for exchange.
The performance selected for exchange must be comparably priced with the current performance.
Other theatre companies may occasionally be provided with use of the Vortex performance space. Reservations and ticket exchange for these non-Vortex performances may or may not be available, depending on the agreement between The Vortex and the other theatre company.
Specially-designated shows or other events that are not part of the regular Vortex season may or may not be available for exchange, depending on the needs of the special production.

Discounted seats

The Vortex gladly offers the discounted rates listed below. All discounts may not be available for all events, and all discounts may not be available for online ticket sales.

You must be eligible for any discount you claim online. Discounted online ticket sales require you to verify discount eligibility when you check in at the theatre.

Albuquerque Theatre Guild (ATG)

Eligibility: Current ATG members.
Discount amount: 20% off the regular ticket price on up to 2 tickets per performance for each ATG member.
Required to claim: Presentation of current ATG membership card by the ATG member.

ABQ Press Pass

Eligibility: Participants of the Albuquerque Journal Press Pass program.
Discount amount: 20% off the regular ticket price on up to 2 tickets per performance for each Press Pass holder.
Required to claim: Presentation of ABQ Press Pass.

Student Rush

Eligibility: Students with a valid student ID
Ticket price: $10
Required to claim: Student Rush admissions become available 5 minutes prior to curtain, cannot be reserved, and may not be combined with other discounts. The student must present his or her own student ID.

Groupon Two-for-One Coupon

Eligibility: Groupon members who have purchased a two-for-one admission coupon. This is a limited-time offer during September-December 2011.
Ticket price: The Groupon coupon allows you to purchase two tickets for the price of one.
Required to claim: Your printed coupon must be provided at the time of admission.
