Nuther, an other; tomato, tomahto -- no matter how you say it, hilarity ensues when a young stand-up comedy troupe prepares to enlighten audiences on different subjects from their perspective. Who needs a superhero to save the world from aliens when there are more pressing problems like gross dinners and teachers piling up homework? And what's the secret behind those parental "when-I-was-your-age" stories? These cleverly witty kids have the answers and more! Written by Alan Haehnel. Directed by Jeff Dolecek and Dejah Padon.

The Vortex Theatre is offering three Christmas theatre workshops for children aged 5 to 12 in a fun and safe environment. This isn't just a kids’ theatre camp—it’s a festive getaway for the whole family, in their own unique way. While kids revel in theatre games, holiday crafts, and a cozy seasonal movie, parents get their much-needed Intermission for Grown-Ups. Whether it's finishing errands, checking names off the Christmas shopping list, or simply kicking back with a cup of peace and quiet, this Broadway Break is all yours. Campers will stay engaged and entertained in a fun, safe environment filled with imagination and laughter. Snacks will be provided, and lunch is BYO—so no prep stress required. Parents go Off Book & Off Duty while the holiday spirit takes center stage. For more info or to register, go to www.vortexabq.org or email; [email protected].
New Play Readings
The Vortex has produced numerous national and international premieres in its 48-year history, many of these by New Mexico Playwrights. In our efforts to locate fresh opportunities and to support the development of new works, we regularly present semi-staged readings of new works followed by feedback sessions with the playwright and director.
