They Must Be Women NowWritten by: Nedra Pezold Roberts
Directed by: RayRey Griego August 14 - 30 A winner of the American Association of Community Theatre 2026 NewPlay Fest, Roberts' work tells the story of three women of different ages and generations. Charlene has come home to Half Way, Georgia after quitting her job in a high-powered Atlanta tech company. She’s fed up with men interrupting her in meetings and taking credit for her ideas. Charlene’s mother, Althea, is an independent woman who for years has owned her own business, Miss Althea’s Bridal Boutique and Bail Bonds. Althea is a force to be reckoned with, but has somehow never broken free of the lure of the fairytale wedding. Olivia is a black woman made wise by life’s hard lessons. Full of sass and secrets, Olivia is the master of alterations in the Bridal Boutique—alterations both literal and metaphorical. World premiere. Produced in conjunction with the Vortex 2026 New Play Fest.
