The Vortex Theatre Education Program is a community-based program offering theatrical instructions for youth and adults. Our classes, workshops, camps, and productions create opportunities for students to develop talents in all aspects of the theatre arts in a safe and supportive environment.

Jeff DolecekYouth Program CoordinatorOriginally from Chicagoland, Jeff Dolecek graduated from Valparaiso University with a B.A. in Theater. After which he spent ten years in Chicago performing. He was inspired into education while working with the Chicago Department of Transportation as a Safe Routes / Bicy cling Ambassador. During that time he also received an MEd in elementary edu cation and taught Drama in Chicago Public Schools.
Relocating first in 2016 to Las Cruces and then again in 2019 to Albuquerque, Jeff has been on stages from El Paso to Santa Fe. And continues to audition for stage as well as screen. He has served on the Vortex Board of directors for 3 years, currently as the Secretary. In the past he has developed and implemented other education al outreach for the Vortex, but is so excited to have a partner in Dejah to really boost the Vortex’s engagement with the community. |
Dejah PadonYouth Program CoordinatorDejah Padon brings over 30 years of rich experience in choreography, performance, and production management to the table. As a proud native of Maui, she thrived as a professional dancer, dance captain, and company manager for 16 years, captivating audiences on stages in Japan, Reno, and Las Vegas.
Dejah reignited her passion for youth theater, dedicating six fruitful years to the Maui OnStage Education and Youth Program at the Historic Iao Theatre, alongside her work at King Kekaulike and Baldwin High Schools. Embracing diverse roles, from choreographer and director to costume designer and teacher, she has nurtured countless young talents. Her dedication to directing, choreographing, and teaching dance, acting, and musical theater has empowered many young performers to thrive. Dejah is thrilled to join The Vortex Theatre’s Youth Program! She is eager to share her wealth of experience, ignite a passion for the arts, and inspire the next generation of performers. With a firm belief in the transformative power of theater, Dejah is committed to fostering confidence, creativity, and a vibrant sense of community within every student she teaches. We're excited to have her on board! |
